“FAQ: What kind of camera should I buy?”
June 1, 2009 FAQs
If you are an aspiring photographer and are scratching your head about which camera to buy, I had recently come across a very well-written article from a very talented wedding photographer and acquaintance of mine based out of San Fransisco. I won’t take away his thunder by reiterating anything, so give it a read if you happen to be camera shopping!

I love taking pictures and just recently did my cousins wedding since they didint have the money for one so I said I would. I bought a canon rebel xs but not sure if I’m totally in love with it. Alot of pics have red eye (and it has red eye reduction) Also in the church I couldn’t take continuous photos and it wouldn’t let me take pics fast enought so I lost some good shots? Any suggestions?
Thanks for the note Lesley. That’s strange, red-eye should be rare with the newer SLR cameras, I used to shoot with an XT and I only ended up with red-eye a handful of times. One thing you can do is to stop using the on camera flash and work more with the ambient light, but if it’s too dark for that, you might need to resort to upgrading your flash or get a lens that’s made for low light situations. The 50mm 1.8 is always a popular choice. As for your camera not taking photos continuously, it might have to do with your memory card not being fast enough. Your memory card is what processes the photos in your camera so when you’re taking pictures that are a good 5+ mb in size each, there’s always going to be lag time on lower end memory cards.
Hope that helps!
