Vancouver Fashion Photography | Sarah Wong of Maijahlewk

My beginnings as a photographer were rooted in fashion; so when I had a chance to do my first fashion shoot in over a year with Sarah Wong of Maijahlewk models, it was like visiting a long lost friend. Sarah was great to work with and for something that was relatively impromptu we were both quite pleased with the results.

Vancouver Actor Headshot Photographer | Aman Bindra Part 2

I want to begin my first blog entry of 2012 by wishing everyone a happy new year. Before the dawn of the new year, Aman came in to see me for second time for some updated actor headshots.

I took a different approach this time and shot all his looks on an all-white background. For the longest time I had shunned the notion of shooting on a plain backdrop, that was until I was inspired by the work of Peter Hurley, otherwise renowned as the number one headshot photographer in America. 99% of his headshot work is done on a plain white backdrop. His rationale is that a headshot should focus on nothing else but the expression of the person you’re photographing, and that the bells and whistles that come with shooting someone on location is inconsequential. By keeping things simple, it’ll allow for photographers to spend more time on coaching and evoking amazing and genuine expression out of their clients, which is what ultimately matters. After trying this for myself with the same subject, I am inclined to agree.

Richmond Event Photographer | Community Events | TD Tree Days

Richmond Event Photographer

I was recently approached by TD Friends of the Environment Foundation to photograph their “TD Tree Days” event in Richmond Terra Nova Rural Park. I always consider it a treat to photograph events that focus on community involvement for a noble cause. The focus of Tree Days was tree planting, and it consisted almost entirely of enthusiastic volunteers who took time out on a Sunday morning to make Richmond a little greener! There were lots of smiles and laughter that morning, especially coming from the children, and the rain and cloudy weather did nothing to dampen anyone’s spirit. The shot above is a photo of the organizers, the ones that follow are of all the volunteers bringing life into our community!
